FDA recommends everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine

This post is from an email being sent around the country.  The bracketed comments are mine.

OTC (Over the Counter) DRUG RECALL - VERY SERIOUS
CONFIRMED BY SNOPES.COM & FDA

All Drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being recalled.

STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient.  It has been linked
to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain)
among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use
of medication.

 The FDA recommends that everyone
(even children)
seek alternative medicine.

[Heavens, isn't that what people have been trying to do for years and the FDA has stopped them?
Nice the FDA is now reversing itself and promoting alternative medicine
in the face of the dangers of its own approved drugs, even OTC drugs.]

[Do we need proof of stroke or seizure?]
If you know of anyone else with small children,
PLEASE PASS THIS ON.   THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF!
[As in complete collapse of the trust in the FDA and the drug industry.]

DO PASS ALONG TO ALL ON YOUR MAILING LIST so people are informed.
They can then pass it along to their families.
To confirm these findings please take time to check the following:
http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR CHILDREN IN CASE THEY GIVE IT TO THEIR CHILDREN OR TO FRIENDS WHO HAVE CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN.

  1. Parents now have a safe, effective, yet natural choice for their children. Recent research from Penn State showed 100% pure Buckwheat Honey out performed children’s cough and cold medicine for children’s nighttime cough.

Buckwheat Honey is considered safe for children 1 and older, so it is the perfect choice for conscientious parents and doctors. Currently, “Honey Don’t Cough” is the only company packaging 100% pure Buckwheat Honey in ready-to-use packets for children. A growing number of pharmacies are providing “Honey don’t Cough,” it will be available on Amazon.com in the end of November. To learn more you can visit www.honeydontcough.com

  2. Thank you for contributing that. Parents have been giving their children honey to stop coughs for generations. It is the direction we need to be going - back to what is safe, natural, inexpensive, within our control ... and effective. People need to be sure the honey is "organic" though, because the safety and quality of honey depends on what the bees feed on and they are exposed to crops laced with pesticides and genetically engineered.

Manuka honey from New Zealand is a natural antibiotic, even useful topically. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3787867.stm
